Today, most large or listed companies have a whistleblower program. But from December 17th, 2021, all private companies with more than 250 employees are required to have a whistleblower program. For companies in the private sector with between 50-249 employees, the deadline for establishing whistleblower schemes expires two years later, on 17th of December 2023.
However, it is important that you as a company already begin the implementation. The intervening years must be seen as a run-in period and have been put in place to ensure that the schemes are in place before the legal requirement becomes applicable.
